All Preserves, Honey, Fruits, Spreads and Sweet Sauces By Bar Le Duc
The origin of Bar-le-Duc Currant Preserves dates from the 14th century. They were intended only for the lord's table, being considered at that time already a great luxury. Jars were offered as gifts to princes, dukes, ladies of the court and other personalities who traveled via Bar-le-Duc. The process has not changed: seeded by hand with a goose quill, the currants are thrown immediately into a burning-hot syrup, a method which allows the fruit to keep its flavor and bright color.
